The easiest way to explain how the equipotential angle of adjustment can be used is to place it within an arrangement of similar triangles (as above).

Don't be fooled though, the measured Equipotential angle of adjustment is never as large as depicted, this is for demonstration purposes only.

It is simply the angle measured between the equipotential surface at one point and the equipotential surface at another point at the same altitude or elevation.
