On The Level members and friends will be livestreaming the experiment on the On The Level Discord Server.
2 Auto Levels will be placed 6 miles apart at an equal altitude above the same stretch of water.
The rumpus poles will be sighted each from the others position.
A from B
and
B from A
Cameras will be placed on the levels (invalidating the surveying ability of the tool) the pictures will be broadcast directly to the On The Level Discord server.
If you'd like to be there for this historic event and view it live then join in.
As always these live events will be livestreamed exclusively to the On The Level Discord server. If you'd like to be part of this historic event either on site or planning then contact us by joining the discord, click the button below.
What is a rumpus pole?
The rumpus pole is the distance of separation between level and horizontal, and is calculated to allow the mind to accept a fallacious confirmation of a preconceived model.
**The Nutsack drop is a colloquial term used to mean the making the most of the quadradic equation - a go big or go home mentality.
It's only fair to mention the controversy over the positioning of the rumpus pole due to the perpendicular nature of plumb/level and vertical/horizontal and the fact that vertical and plumb are identical, we feel it's something every debunker should be made aware of.
Rumpus poles don't necessarily need thermistor arrays but if you're going to go for the full Nutsack drop then there's no reason not to.
This is a very simple measurement.*
Let's go step by step.
1. Set up an auto level on Welney Bridge at a measured altitude above the canal (point A)
2. Set the target at the Salters Lode bridge to match the auto level horizontal cross hair.**
3. Measure the height of the target above the canal. (The full Nutsack**)
4. Subtract the height of the auto level (point B) from the height of the target.
5. The difference is the drop of level from horizontal. *rumpus pole
See how easy that is?

* A rumpus pole is the unit of measure for the separation of level and horizontal.
Utilising the full Nutsack ** drop enables you to imagine (and invert) a four times larger divergence from horizontal than previously imagined. Never before have you had the ability to imagine a greater separation of level from horizontal, the rumpus pole is easier to imagine than the Blue marble induced imagihump and 4 times as large. The rumpus pole is the best choice for the new modern day curvature hunter.
Bev Try Thinking
One of the most important things to note is that a rumpus pole is not a measuring rod, as a measuring rod measures an elevation change of the land and a rumpus pole is a unit of distance of separation between the zero elevation change of level and the zero slope of a horizontal plane and thus cannot be an elevation change. As such a rumpus pole is a tool that will be unfamiliar to anyone untrained in the art of tool abuse.* A rumpus pole being a unit of not measurement exists only in the mind of the meta surveyor, do you have the ability to conceptualise a rumpus pole in your mind, can you envisage a rumpus pole in a picture you've found on the internet?
As noted earlier, normal surveyors use measuring rods to measure an elevation change of the land, this is not how to sight a rumpus pole. Normal surveys survey locally and rumpus poles are sighted far beyond any distance that can be considered 'local'.
Where the normal surveyors have a limited scope, the armchair meta surveyor can practise the modern art of tool abuse and stretch the limit of the tool to unknown levels. Rumpus poles can be imagined to be unbelievable sizes.
